Imu-Max is a blend of Echinacea with bee propolis that is used to boost the immune system and aid in the prevention of respiratory tract infections in children and adults.
A double-blind, placebo-controlled study was carried out on the efficacy of a syrup (Chizukit), in the prevention of respiratory tract infections in children during a 12 week winter period. 215 children, ages 1-5, were given Chizukit, and 215 were given a placebo. 328 children completed the study, 160 in the Chizukit group and 168 in the placebo group. The children in the Chizukit group experienced fewer respiratory tract illnesses, the total number of illness days and duration was lessened. Children in the Chizukit group also had fewer days absent from day care, fewer unscheduled physician visits, and less nighttime cough.
Propolis is a resinous substance collected by bees from conifer buds and poplar, and is used to seal their hives. Propolis has been found to have antimicrobial activity and has traditionally been used in folk medicine.
Echinacea is a common herb used to treat and prevent upper respiratory tract infections. Please see the Imu-Max PDN for studies on the support of Echinacea.
